Spirituality
Spirituality at Great Milton is a sense of something bigger than ourselves. It helps us understand our place within the wider community. It is our inspiration to respect, show kindness and take care of ourselves, each other and our world, regardless of our religious affiliation.
Here at Great Milton we aim to nurture pupils to grow and flourish in their own individual spiritual journey in the context of our Church school.
Throughout their time in our school family, the children are given opportunities to:
● Openly discuss their beliefs and spiritual understanding in a safe place, which develops their understanding and respect for different world views.
● Celebrate different cultural and spiritual activities to enable their understanding of others’ beliefs and the views of the wider world.
● Develop an understanding of the Christian and British values that underpins our school ethos.
● Engage in recognising and helping others in need.
● Encourage children to develop connections with others to create an environment that is full of kindness and love.
● Develop emotional awareness, self-regulation and social skills to support their spiritual development.
● Calmly resolve and reflect on personal challenges and understand that different perspectives can be spiritually enriching.
● Reflect during the school day to help them connect to their inner selves.
● Connect with nature during forest school sessions and outdoor activities to deepen their spiritual experience.
● Develop their curiosity about life through high quality texts in our English curriculum.
● Express their spirituality through music and art in meaningful ways.
